About this file

This is Amendment 0001 to a federal solicitation (1240LT26Q0036) issued by the U.S. Forest Service, Intermountain Region 8, for fire alarm system upgrades at the Tatanka Hotshots Base in Custer, South Dakota. The amendment is effective April 7, 2026, and incorporates consolidated questions and answers from vendors, a site visit attendee list with redacted personal information, and revisions to Attachment 5 Specifications with changes highlighted in red.

Key modifications include: extension of the quote deadline from April 9 to April 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM CDT; shift of the Period of Performance start date from April 21 to April 30, 2026, with performance ending October 30, 2026; and confirmation that the project aims to replace the existing fire alarm system to meet current building codes for an R-2 occupancy classification. Technical clarifications address manufacturer approvals (Edwards Signaling, Fire Lite Alarms, NOTIFIER, and Siemens Building Technologies are acceptable if specifications-compliant), ADA-compliant dorm rooms with low-frequency sounder/strobes, landline-based monitoring system communication, all-new wiring requirements with free-air wire acceptable in hidden spaces, and full building access for contractors. The amendment specifies that existing sprinkler and monitoring systems must remain operational during installation per an impairment plan, with new detection and warning devices reusing existing mounting holes and labeled "NOT IN SERVICE" until acceptance.
