About this file

This document appears to be a question and answer about the design requirements for the Leeds Creek #1 bridge reconstruction project, which is part of a larger federal contract opportunity.

The key details are:

  • The Forest Service is open to considering a slightly different bridge length at Leeds Creek #1, as long as it still meets the project intent. At least one supplier has proposed an alternate length and footing shape that the Forest Service is likely to approve, provided it matches the drawings and specifications.

  • The work includes removing and disposing of the existing bridges/culverts, installing new foundations and superstructures, reconstructing the channels, and constructing roadway approaches for both the Leeds Creek #1 and Castle Creek locations.
  • The contracting agency is the Department of Agriculture Forest Service. No other details about the contract, such as timeline, pricing, or set-asides, are provided in this document.

Leeds Creek #1 Design Question

Question: Would the Forest Service be willing to consider a slightly different bridge length at Leeds Creek #1 to allow the supplier to use an existing form?

Answer: Yes, our intent would be to approve and alternate length if possible, while still meeting the project intent. At least one supplier has reached out to us with a specific alternate length and footing shape and it looks like that alternative will be approved if everything else matches the drawings and specifications. The Forest does not have a preferred supplier. Please don’t read this answer as an endorsement of any one approach or supplier.
