Paint and Stain the Exterior and interior of the Stone Cellar Cabin. Paint and stain on the interior wall that separates the kitchen and living room. Apply Chinking to the exterior and interior of the cabin.
General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
Stone Cellar Cabin is a log cabin built in 1909. The GPS information is 38.01917 – 106.68139.
Provide all labor, material, and supplies required to remove the stain on the exterior and interior of the Stone Cellar Cabin. Also remove all the paint and stain on the interior wall that separates the kitchen and living room. Then after rinsing and sanitizing the logs add a treatment to preserve the logs. Then stain the logs. The chinking on the exterior and interior walls of the cabin needs a new coat of chinking. This project done before September hunting season. Before leaving clean up around the cabin and leave it the way you found it.
2.0 Background
Stone Cellar Cabin is a remote cabin in Saguache Park. From the town of Saguache it is a two hour drive. The last hour of diving is on dirt bumpy road. The Cabin sits at an elevation of 9,500 ft. The size of the cabin is 30 X 20 feet. The cabin can sleep 12 people. There is no electricity or phone service at the cabin. The cabin does have a hand pump for drinking water, propane lights, heater, refrigerator, and stove. There is also an outhouse at the cabin.
Contractor requirements
3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks
Work shall include:
General - Contractor shall supply all tools and equipment to complete the job. Drop cloths shall be used to minimize removing stain or fresh stain drips from accumulating on the deck of the cabin, in the interior wall that separates the kitchen and living room and ground surrounding the cabin.
Contractor will be responsible for all clean-up required during and at the completion of the job.
Surface Preparation - Prior to application of new stain or paint, surface shall be cleaned of all dirt and debris. First remove all stains, paints or grayed wood from wood surfaces, includes soffit, porch ceiling and fascia on the exterior and interior logs. Not including porch. Next rinse and sanitize the log cabin after removing the stains, paints and grayed wood. Then use a borate treatment on the exterior and interior logs. The application of borate preservative powder at a 10% solution.
Exterior and interior Staining – Two coats of natural stain shall be applied to the exterior walls. Stain shall be from a quality manufacturer such as Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, or Pratt & Lambert.
Additional manufacturers will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contractor shall allow sufficient drying time before application of the second coat. Stain may be applied using brush, roller, spray or other applicators according to manufacturer’s written instructions. Contractor shall match colors of new stains to the existing colors. Then add one coat of (Natural) stain plus two coats of
Symphony interior clear coat. The kitchen room walls are painted white.
Chinking - Fix the chinking between the logs on the exterior and interior of the cabin. If chinking is not failing/crumbling and does not require removal, an overlay of thinned down chinking may be opted for instead of chinking replacement. Pull out the failed chinking. Overlay with thinned down chinking to return chinking to desired color and to repair all defects. Before leaving clean up around the cabin and remove all material off the forest. Interior includes the perimeter of the cabin plus one room that is the kitchen area.
4.0 Government Furnished
The government will provide the following items and services:
• The contractor crew can stay in the cabin when they are working on it. There are not any hotels in the area. Camping outside the cabin is allowed.
• A COR officer will check on their work and make sure they are following the contract.
• Parking for contractor vehicles
• We will provide combo code to get into the gate and cabin
5.0 Deliverables / Schedule
The contractor has 17 days for completion of this project. The contractor is required to provide written progress reports after the first six days and one report at the end.
6.0 Travel
All travel associated with this contract is considered to be incidental and included in the cost of the contract. The nearest town is Saguache and it is a two hour drive to get there. It is an hour drive on a dirt road.
7.0 Contractor’s Key Personnel
At all times during performance of this contract and until the work is completed and accepted, the
Contractor shall directly superintend the work or assign and have on the worksite a competent superintendent who is satisfactory to the Contracting Officer and has authority to act for the
Contractor.
All contractors must have a current and active profile in Sam.gov to be eligible for an award under this requisition.
