About this file

This document is an Amendment to Solicitation 1240BK24Q0070 for Landscaping Services at the Siuslaw National Forest and Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. The amendment provides clarification to the Statement of Work, including details that the Day Use area at Tahkenitch Campground is the only site outside the campground that is to be included, and that maintenance is only required on the actual campsites and around buildings, not behind fenced areas. The contract does not include hedge trimming, herbicide, insecticide, or fertilizer applications. The solicitation has a quote due date of May 8, 2024 at 2pm PST. This is a small business set-aside procurement under NAICS code 561730 with a $9.5 million size standard.

Q: The Campgrounds have additional offshoots (trailheads, staging areas, parking lots, day use areas), should those areas be included in our bid?

A: The Day Use at Tahkenitch Campground is included. This should be the only site that is outside of the campground to be included. Otherwise, the only Day Use inclusions are the those where there isn’t differentiation between campground and the day use. If the site is labeled separately, it is not included. If there are further questions, please provide campground and description of site in question.

Q: We've observed low fencing surrounding the campgrounds. Does the contract include the back side of the fenced in campground area?

A: The contract only requires the actual campsites and around any building facilities. The fences are there to keep people out and we don’t want to maintain behind them to invite people. We want to make sure the fences are weed-eated on the backside, creating a 12” to 18” strip behind fence to maintain visibility and appearance.

The strip would be just wide enough for contractor to walk behind with weed trimmer.

Q: To confirm, this maintenance contract includes: mowing to 6" or less, weed eating, blowing around pavement and buildings, etc... Will there be any additional expectations? Trimming hedges, spraying herbicide?

A: No additional expectations. No hedge trimming, herbicide or insecticides, or fertilizer

Q: Further describe the requirements of 0001AO

A: After October 1st, 2024, for the seasonal loops or site (there’s a Dec 31st closing on one as well), the contractor will make one last visit to trim and mow, blow leaves, etc. All campers will be gone. The loops or site will then be closed for the season. Currently, the Forest Service is (or has been) completing seasonal loops or site prep work for the spring opening (May 1st – yesterday).

For year two, around two weeks before May 1st, the contractor will go to the seasonal sites and trim, mow, and blow debris and leaves, prepping for opening day May 1st, 2025. Then in the fall, doing the final landscaping after campers are gone as described in first year work.
