About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) Questions and Answers document for Solicitation 1240BH26Q0028, the GAOA South Park Office Rehab project at Pike National Forest under the Department of Agriculture Forest Service. The document addresses three formal RFIs and three site visit questions submitted by potential bidders.
The RFIs and government responses clarify key project specifications: (1) the roof snow-melt system is detailed on drawing A1.4 with electrical panel locations on drawing A1.3, with specifications provided in section 077143; (2) approximately 165 linear feet of chain-link fencing is required as identified on drawing C1.1, with field verification required per Specification Section 010150; and (3) insulation installation is limited to drop ceilings only due to insufficient clearance under hard-lid ceilings. Site visit clarifications confirm that window trim is metal (not wood as originally shown), that all personal items and furniture will be secured or removed before work begins, and that the District Ranger may relocate employees during construction. The only changes from the previous year's solicitation are an extended performance period to accommodate potential weather delays and the addition of ceiling insulation work. This RFI response document was posted as an amendment on July 28, 2026, and must be acknowledged and submitted with quotes.

Request For Information (RFI) Form
1240BH26Q0028
South Park Office Rehab Pike National Forest
RFI #1 – Could the Government please confirm the required footage and associated electrical requirements for the roof snow-melt system, including the extent of coverage and any applicable drawings or details necessary for bidding?
The snow melt system is detailed out in drawing A1.4. On drawing A1.3, it denotes where on the roof the electric heat panel, valley heat panel, and heat tape inside the downspouts and gutters will be. A scale is provided on the drawings to estimate linear distances. The type of different snow melt system specifications is listed in specification section 077143 titled Roof Snow and Ice Melt System.
RFI #2 – Could the Government please confirm the exact linear footage of chain-link fencing required for this project? The Schedule of Items identifies the fence as a Linear Foot (LF) pay item, but we were unable to determine the total quantity from the solicitation documents.
On drawing sheet C1.1, a scale was provided to estimate the linear distance of the chain link fence. It is approximately 165 feet of fencing. All measurements must be field verified before installation per Specification Section 010150, subsection 1.7 Field Verification.
RFI #3 – Item viii Option Item: Install insulation inside the drop ceiling. The interior of the existing ceiling is mixed with drop ceilings and hard lid ceilings. Is the insulation expected only to be installed in the drop ceiling, i.e. (T-Bar grid ceiling) or will the whole attic space be insulated?
It is the intent to only install insulation in the drop ceiling as there is not enough room under the hard lid ceiling to install the insulation.
Site Visit Question #1 – It is noted that the trim along the windows is wood, but upon inspection onsite it is metal. Is that correct?
Yes, the trim above and below the windows as shown on drawing A1.1, PH1, the dark brown above and below the window is metal.
Site Visit Question #2 – Will all personal items around the office be put away or stored upon the start of the work on this project? Will the furniture be locked? Will the site be occupied during the duration of the work?
All employees’ personal items will be removed or stored upon the start of the work on this contract. Any furniture that has the capability to do so will be locked to help with ease of moving and to protect any items inside the furniture. In the past, the District Ranger has offered to relocate the employees during the duration of the work. The COR will ask again upon the award of the contract to verify that it is still possible to do so.
Site Visit Question #3 – This contract was solicited last year. What changed?
The only changes were to make the period of performance longer to account for potentially large snow falls that could impact the work being performed outside and the addition of installing new insulation in the ceiling.
