About this file
This document provides an amendment to a solicitation for the Lamonta Historical Structures Restoration project. The Forest Service will remove external electrical and plumbing fixtures and provide storage areas for the awarded contractor. Lead-based paint is assumed to be present and all new wood materials must be primed on all sides as specified. The agency will replace an HVAC unit and remove vehicles and equipment from building exteriors prior to work commencing. The pre-proposal meeting addressed questions on site visits, garage door rebuilding, window restoration, and travel expenses, which fall under mobilization. The glazing pay item scope of work was also clarified.

Meeting Location: At project site, Lamonta Compound, Prineville Oregon
Attendance: Forest Service: Mike Krawczyk, Dale Beshara, Ellten Davis, Bryan Kurtz

GENERAL DISCUSSIONS
- External Electrical and Plumbing Fixtures:
The Forest service will remove external electrical and plumbing fixtures from the exterior of buildings prior to commencement of work by the contractor.
- Is lead based paint present on the exterior of buildings included in this project?
o Answer: It is assumed that lead based paint is present under the current top paint coat on all the buildings. A test was conducted on exposed underlying paint layers, on building 2101, and the test confirmed the presence of lead.
- All 4 sides of new boards, including siding, trim, and others, shall be primed, and treated as specified in contract documents.
- If material substitution requests or unexpected conditions encountered require SHPO (Historic Structure) approval; it should be assumed that the approval process will take several weeks.
- Where possible, and as approved by the Forest Service; Existing siding boards shall be repaired in lieu of replacement.
- A mini-split HVAC unit will be installed on building 2101, near the NW corner of the building prior to commencement of work on the building.
- Work and storage areas for the awarded contractor: The Forest service will provide material and equipment storage locations within the secure fenced area of the Lamonta compound. The Forest Service will work with the contractor to provide adequate space based on their plan of operation. Existing vehicles, equipment, and materials will be removed from the exterior of buildings prior to the Contractor’s commencement of work on individual buildings. Adequate clear space will be created to allow the contractor access to the work areas.
