About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station for dataloggers to replace aging systems in forest ecosystem research. The specific equipment requested includes: (1) Campbell Scientific CR1000Xe high-capacity datalogger, (2) GRANITE Series 20-channel thermocouple modules, (1) GRANITE Series 16/32 channel analog input module, (5) CR310 dataloggers, and (2) HMP60 relative humidity and temperature probes. The procurement is a small business set-aside under NAICS code 334519, with a size standard of 600 employees. Delivery is required within 30 days of order receipt, and the equipment will be used to measure timber growth and water usage in forest ecosystems post-timber harvest or post-wildfire, with an emphasis on maintaining compatibility with existing Campbell Scientific systems and infrastructure.

Project Fast Response Infrared Gas Analyzer (IRGA) for portable MaRTa micrometeorological station to measure timber growth and water usage in forest ecosystems post-timber harvest or post-wildfire.

General Information

1.0 Scope of Work

The USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station requests dataloggers. These dataloggers and peripheral modules will be deployed to replace aging systems that also use Campbell Scientific dataloggers. The wiring, sensors, and environmental enclosures built around these older Campell loggers will be retained. By purchasing Campbell products, we are ensuring that the only steps necessary for replacement will be to upload existing code to the new loggers and wire them into our existing systems. Purchasing from other vendors would require re-engineering our systems and sensors and writing new code. Furthermore, purchasing all the items from Campbell is preferred because the required peripherals such as the thermocouple module and analog input module are made to work only with Campbell systems. A datalogging system cannot be constructed out of incompatible elements. Lastly, the Campbell CR series is the industry standard for high-quality, reliable measurements. Campbell loggers have performed well in our challenging field conditions for decades.
