Text version
1. Do they have to clean windows and screens?
a. A: yes, but don’t worry about broken screens.
2. Will the floors need to be stripped and waxed?
a. A: no, just swept and dusted or mopped as needed.
3. Will appliances need to be cleaned? They gave an example of refrigerators.
a. A: yes, but only once unless they’re used again (which does not look like the case in the near term)
4. Is there asbestos in the buildings?
a. A: I said that I don’t know. I pointed out that there is old lead paint that has been sealed by the new paint over it.
5. Are there mice or other rodents in the buildings.
a. A: no, as far as I know. We have sticky mouse traps, but they have only caught bugs so far.
6. They asked about water availability in each of the buildings. They noted the “not potable” signs.
a. A: the water is available in most buildings (not #6, the classroom) but that it is not potable as it is borderline for lead. My understanding was that you can’t absorb lead through your skin and that I have been washing my hands for 11 years with no apparent ill effects.
7. I was asked about winter access.
a. A: I told them that I (Keith) will have to provide access during the winter or, if not possible, we would cancel that visit. I said that I don’t know how that will affect the contract payments.
I emphasized that you and COR have the final say on the contractual provisions but that they can contact me (Keith) about details like access.
I told them that I would provide a key or combination to the gate locks and a master key to the buildings.
