1240BF22Q0019 – Amendment 0001 Q&A
1. Is the contractor required to recover the sunk buoys, chain and anchors at Shipley Bay and PT Amagura?
No.
2. Does the Forest Service intend to award all base bid items (1-11)?
Yes.
3. The optional item to supply (2) additional anchors does not include installation, correct?
If one of the buoys is missing or not attached to the anchors, the intent is to install the new anchors. They will need to be constructed before going around to maintain the buoys and should be loaded on the vessel.
4. Does this project require domestic materials? Or compliance with Buy America/American?

5. Is a bid bond required? Will payment or performance bonds be required?
No bonding required.
6. For the 24" Pipe Buoy: What is the wall thickness of the pipe?
The center tube through the Buoy is a 24" diameter pipe with .375 wall thickness coated with fusion bond epoxy.
7. What is the thickness of the bulkhead and retaining ring?
Bulkhead 3/8 inch thick. Reinforcing ring are 5/16 inch plate.
8. For the "topper buoy" - is this a commercially available item?
This is a commercial product from Topper Industries.
9. If not, what are the "topper floats" - tires?
The floats were based on the dimensions of 42” diameter truck tires.
10. What size is the steel tube/pipe that runs down the middle?
Based on the original drawings used in previous buoy contracts, the steel tube/pipe is 5” SCH .
11. There are a couple of anchor locations on this contract that may not be able to be accessed with conventional lifting equipment. In this case, can the inspection and chain replacement be made by divers without removing the anchor?
Diving is not a requirement of this contract. Old anchors, that have been replaced due to inadequate bail thickness, shall be disposed of off of National Forest land.
