RFQ NO. 1240BD26Q0081: Silver Creek Trail Bridge Supplies Amendment 02

“QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ROUND 1”

Company Question #01: Is the final delivery date flexible?

Forest Service Answer #01: 06/30/2027 is the latest, acceptable delivery date. The affected solicitation pages 2 and 4 are amended and attached herein.

Company Question #02: What is the expected species and grade for the timber deck material and for the timber railing system?

Forest Service Answer #02: Timber species and grade for deck, nailer, and rails shall be Alaskan Yellow cedar, No. 1 or Better. Deck and nailers shall be 4” thick full sawn. Rails shall be 4”x4” full sawn. (Note: timber to be provided by the Forest Service and not supplied through this contract).

Company Question #03: Will we need to provide a sealed design for the deck and railing in addition to sizing the beams for the bridge?

Forest Service Answer #03: Supplier only needs to provide a sealed design for the steel materials that meet the loading requirements.

Company Question #04: Is it acceptable to propose a splice pending COR approval (Section 7.b of the specs).

Forest Service Answer #04: It is preferred that steel girders be one piece for easier installation; however, a splice would be acceptable as needed to meet the helicopter lift constraints. The bridge site has reasonable opportunity for temporary shoring to allow girders to be spliced in the field.

CO Point of Clarification: This is a supply contract only. The bridge installation, wood decking, and wood rails are not a part of this requirement. Installation/wood materials will be performed/supplied by the USDA Forest Service.
