Clarificaons and Quesons/Answers
This document includes clarificaons for topics included in the site visit notes and quesons and answers that have been received through email.
Clarificaons
The tree labelled Falls 2 will be felled by the Forest Service but is included in the contract as material to transport (Item 2). Observations at the site indicated that the top half of the tree will likely be in the lake. Material will not be removed from the lake. Equipment will need to access this tree from the right side of the picnic shelter (when looking toward the lake), which is the side of the shelter furthest from the stump. The area that will be required to access the downed tree is sensitive and the contractor will need to operate equipment in this area on a slash mat to minimize ground disturbance.
Q: Can the areas across the plot line be used at the canoe shed delivery locaon? Can areas across the plot line be used by trucks and/or equipment staging area?
A: The area adjacent to the road by the seawall can be used for staging a piece of equipment, and equipment/trucks can use the area across the plot line for unloading. The area across the plot line cannot be excessively impacted by deep ruts in the soil, etc. that are a result of operaons.

Quesons/Answers
Q: Should price proposals include sales tax?
A: The Federal Government is exempt form state sales tax, so price proposals should not include sales tax.
Q: I am assuming the contractor will be required to adhere to your work schedule since you and your coworkers will be at the job site. What hours and days is a contractor looking at working, if this is the case?
A: The contractor will not be restricted to only working during hours that the Forest Service is on site.
Forest Service personnel will be on site daily during the implementaon, generally between about 9AM and 4PM. The Forest Service will coordinate with members of the Quinault Indian Naon to be on site each day that there is material to be assessed for transportaon, however it is possible that secons of trees may not be assessed for potenal transport unl the day aer trees are felled.
Q: Is the 10 day pause business days or calendar days?
A: Calendar days
Q: Will hauling permits be required for cedar salvage material/will permits be given to the winning contractor?
A: Hauling permits will not be required for this project.
Q: What is the maximum diameter to be transported?
A: There is no maximum diameter, all usable material will be transported.
Q: In Falls Creek the signs and the Bear boxes might need to be removed temporarily, and the water spigot to the left of Tree 1. Will the FS dismantle the infrastructure before work commences or is it the contractors responsibility?
A: We will plan to take down the signs, but the sign posts are cemented in and cannot be moved. The bear boxes and water spigot cannot be moved, but the water is turned off. The contractor would be responsible for damages to infrastructure.
