About this file
This document is a detailed specification for a Solar Light LS1000-4S-UV Solar Simulator solicitation issued by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service's Southern Insect Management Research Unit (SIMRU) located in Stoneville, Mississippi. The solicitation seeks a solar simulator with specific technical requirements, including producing solar UV radiation in the 290-400 nm range, using a 1,000 W Xenon Short Arc lamp, having a 4" square output beam size with <5% beam uniformity, and operating within a temperature range of 32°F to 104°F. The primary research objective is to evaluate the impact of UV radiation on biological control agents.
The document specifies detailed technical parameters for the solar simulator, such as light ripple (<±2% rms), working distance of 5.0" ±2.0", long-term drift <0.1%, and line/current regulation requirements. Additional requirements include forced air cooling, a calibration certificate, and FOB delivery. The delivery timeline mandates that the equipment must be delivered to the USDA/ARS/SIMRU at 141 Experiment Station Rd., Stoneville, MS 38776 within 120 days after receipt of order (ARO). The solicitation is structured as a "Brand Name or Equal" procurement, allowing vendors to propose alternative solutions that meet or exceed the specified characteristics.
