MS State Fence Q & A

1. Will the fence be spanning over the ditch in both locations? On the northernmost crossing, the fence will not span the ditch. The nearest fence posts should be located at the top-of-bank at this crossing. On the Southeastern crossing, for bid purposes, USDA would like to span this crossing with a custom section without having any posts or pickets within the cross-sectional area of the stream.

2. Will the tree on the fence line next to the hotel parking lot be removed? The tree in question will not have to be removed.

3. Will the fence go around or not span the wash out area at the sewer/man hole area next to the hotel parking areas? Post up on either side of the manhole and make a custom detachable section for the middle.

4. Has an exact location been determined to re-install your exiting cantilever gate at the Poultry Research building? See below for approximate location

5. A portion of the chain link fence is to be installed on existing asphalt and concrete. Do we need to core drill the holes or plate the post? Core drilled holes

6. For all of the automatic gates, where will we need to pull power and communications from? I need an idea of where so I can price the correct amount of wire needed. The front gate, power and communications will be supplied by Building 1, (Harned Building). Communications cabling needs to be Cat6 and will need to be approximately 300’ long to reach from gate to termination point inside of Building 1. We need a total of 3 Cat6 cables to run from the termination point inside the building to the gate. 1 for use and 2 for future use. The 110v electrical service will need to be approximately 250’ to reach from gate to termination panel inside Building 1 and wire sized accordingly.

For the “Poultry Research Gate”, power is currently supplied from building 13. The power requirements for the new gate will be supplied from B-13 as well.

7. Are there any specs on the gate operator for the 25’ cantilever gate at the main entrance? A 1HP AC High Traffic Commercial Slide Gate Operator such as a Liftmaster LIF-SL3000UL or equivalent model.

8. Where does the electrical need to come into at the building and once inside how far to the available electrical box/breaker? It enters the building outside of the Director’s office which is approximately where the yellow pin is in the above illustration. Once inside the building, approximately 30 ft. to the available breaker panel.

9. It was mentioned yesterday that CAT 6 would be preferred rather than CAT 5 specified. Which do we need to figure and run from new gate location to building? Cat 6. It is now the standard cabling for this location.

10. Is it required for the CAT 5 to be in its own conduit? Cat 6 and Yes, separate conduit.

11. Once the CAT 5 is inside the building, where and how far does the CAT 5 need to be pulled to?

Cat 6 and approximately 70 ft once inside the building.

12. How much extra CAT 5 needs to be rolled up once pulled to end of destination inside building?

Cat 6. 10 ft on each end.
