14. DESCRIPTION OF AMENDMENT/MODIFICATION (Organized by UCF section headings, including solicitation/contract subject matter where feasible.)
The purpose of this Amendment is to answer questions received for this solicitation:
Q1. In the EL Hormones Flammable Liquid waste stream, what chemical/compound is making this waste stream carry the D002 waste code?
A1. The EL Hormones Flammable Liquid waste stream includes Hydrochloric Acid to acidify the extract during the analysis. This results in a low pH which gives it a corrosive
(D002) hazardous characteristic. It is worth noting that this waste stream is inactive at this time, so we no longer produce waste from this analysis.
Q2. Please provide more insight on the history of lab-packs that were generated in the past.

A2. Eastern Laboratory and Midwestern Laboratory analyzes for heavy metals in tissues, over 100 veterinary drugs (antibiotics, sedatives and hormones), perfluorinated compounds and sequences food poisoning pathogens. The laboratory routinely disposes of expired chemicals or those no longer being used in the current analyses.
These may be nonRCRA/nonDOT that should be disposed of by incineration rather than disposing in the regular sanitary landfill, or they may be flammable, toxic, corrosive or have multiple hazardous characteristics. Occasionally, small amounts of oxidizers or reactives are disposed
of. An inventory is provided before disposal.
The last inventory from Midwestern Laboratory is attached as an example.
Q3. Are the lab packs typically, flammable, corrosives, oxidizers, toxics, or reactives or all of the above?
A3. The lab packs can be nonRCRA/nonDOT, or may be flammable, toxic, corrosive, oxidizers or reactives. While the amount of any one chemical is small, the hazards are varied.
Q4. What size containers were shipped out in the past?
A4. 5-55 gallon drum depending on what was being disposed of.
