The Taylor Creek Mechanical Stewardship IRSC project area is located on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe in El Dorado County, on National Forest System Lands (NFS) within the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU).

The purpose of the Taylor Creek Mechanical IRSC project is to reduce hazardous fuels and promote healthy and resilient forest stands in the project area while maintaining and protecting other important resource values. The project area is approximately 275 acres in size and is in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) and general forest. Objectives shall be met by performing the following service work:

1. Cut and remove included sawtimber (10.0” DBH – 29.9” DBH) from 275 acres. Trees to be cut are marked. Cut-to-length logging is required in specified locations.

2. Cut standing dead conifer trees 3.0”-10.9” DBH and transport to landings.

3. Mechanically cut and remove small diameter trees to landings across 20 acres.

4. Treat fuels throughout entire project area by mechanically masticating existing dead and down material and project-generated slash. Remove slash and large dead and down to landings when necessary to meet the fuels treatment specification.

5. Remove biomass and cull logs from the landings to off-Forest disposal sites.

6. Construct less than 1 mile of temporary road to facilitate thinning treatment and decommission the roads prior to demobilization.

7. Perform road maintenance and erosion control on 5.15 miles of road used for timber haul.

Project Completion Deadline: 10/15/2027.

Garrett, Brian - FS, CA Should keep title consistent throughout.
