Questions and Answers:

Question:

1) I see there are base items as well as optional #1 and optional #2 schedule of items...

Will these be awarded all together or are these just options that could be awarded?

It can affect the overall price of a proposed project. Example: baes item 4 acres and optional 4 acres.

Answer:

The intent of this contract is to award all base items and to award some or all of the optional items based on bids received and availability of funding. The entire contract package will be awarded to a single contractor.

2) I see no equipment can be used on the tree planting.

Is this correct? The unit has been logged and site prep this fall through GNA allows equipment use. Seems like equipment could be used to haul in anywhere from 50 to 1100 trees with 1 gallon of water each. This will affect pricing significantly as the unit is densely covered in blackberry.

Heavy equipment is allowed on the tree planting site, however, terrain and vegetation conditions at the tree planting site likely make it inaccessible by heavy equipment. Thick slash, large tree stumps, and regenerating vegetation are abundant on the site. Walk-in access with tools is likely the only way to access the site, but if contractor has heavy equipment that can reach the site, it is allowed.

3) This is one whole bid? Or will or could be broken down to different line items/base/optional with prices proposed?

Example: one contractor is best value on planting trees a different contractor is best value for clearing trees on a different item.

This is one whole bid for awarding the entire work package to a single contractor.

4) With some items having a start date as soon as August 25th, 2023. When would the contractor be notified so they could proceed forward?

The contractor would be notified as soon as possible. Contract award and issuance of notice to proceed may occur after August 25, 2023.

5) if awarded is a contractor able to sub-contract out parts of the project or line items?

Yes, sub-contracting is acceptable.

6) Any idea how big or the weight and size of the potted plants?

The potted seedlings will be in 1-gallon pots, typically 7” wide x 7” tall, and weigh approximately 5-10 Lbs.

depending on amount of water in the soil.
