1113.1 Project Description

This project will replace the existing Sherando Recreation Area Group Campground bathhouse building with a new Sierra IV Multi-User Restroom building kit supplied by Romtec, Inc. Demolition of the existing bathhouse structure occurred under a separate contract and is not part of this scope of work.

The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, and materials to accomplish all work as shown on the drawings and/or specified herein.

The work includes, but is not limited to, the following:

1. Site Preparation.

A. Includes all work needed to prepare the access route from the entrance road to the installation site for delivery of the building kit by semi-truck and tractor trailer. Site access requirements include vertical and horizontal clearance considerations and turning radius allowances along the access route clear of obstructions.

B. Includes excavation and/or fill as needed to obtain required subgrades and to achieve correct final building floor finish elevation as shown on the drawings. If needed, on-site borrow area(s) will be identified by Forest Service.

C. Includes construction of concrete foundation footings and concrete finished floor as indicated on the drawings.

D. Includes installation and connection of new water, sanitary sewer, and electric service lines from existing utility stubs located adjacent to the building site.

E. Includes grading the building site to positively drain surface waters away from the finished installation(s).

F. Includes pumping and hauling to completely evacuate two existing on-site septic tanks.

2. Delivery, Unloading, and Placement Coordination. Contractor shall accept delivery of one prefabricated Sierra IV Multi-User Restroom building kit. Contractor shall coordinate delivery and setup with building kit Supplier (Romtec, Inc.). A. Coordination includes verification with Supplier that the site preparation is adequate for building kit delivery, unloading, and construction prior to delivery.

B. Contractor shall verify that the Supplier’s delivery vehicle(s) can access positions adjacent to the building site with adequate firmness, grade, and clearance to unload the building kit components. Contractor shall make any required additional adjustments for access, clearance, and support, as needed, once delivery vehicle(s) arrive on site.

C. Contractor shall coordinate with Supplier if transfer of building kit from highway legal trailers to short trailers is required, use of alternate cabs, or use of a crane or multiple cranes is advantageous compared to the required level of site preparation to bring highway trailers into the campground and include any such arrangements and costs within the scope of site preparation and delivery coordination.

D. Contractor shall provide a forklift, with minimum 8,000 lb. capacity and 6’ fork extensions, to unload the building kit on site from the Supplier’s delivery vehicle(s).

E. Contractor shall store all building kit, construction materials, and equipment in a predetermined staging area adjacent to the building site.

3. Setup. Setup includes assembly of the pre-fabricated building kit on its foundation, connection and hookup of water, sanitary sewer, and electric service to existing utility stubs located adjacent to the site, and any incidental work as necessary to place the building into commission for its intended purpose. Contractor shall take care to note all items necessary for assembly/installation of the bathhouse unit, but not furnished with the kit by the manufacturer.

4. Construction of new 3’ wide concrete sidewalks around the building as indicated on the drawings. Contractor shall coordinate with the Forest Service on sidewalk coloring and brooming requirements.

5. Installation and hook-up of new gravity sewer lines, water supply lines, and electric service lines as shown on the drawings.
