About this file
This file contains RFI (Request for Information) responses dated August 14, 2026, for Solicitation No. 1232SA26Q0971. The document addresses two clarification questions from prospective contractors regarding roof renovation work at two buildings.
The first question concerns the thickness of existing insulation at the Lab Building that is slated for reuse. The solicitation notes assume 50% of existing insulation will be reused, but contractors need clarification on the existing insulation thickness to properly plan installation of new R-30 insulation (2 layers of 2.6" totaling 5.2" thickness). The response clarifies that Demolition Keynote 1 applies to the Lab Building and specifies that 50% of existing roof insulation will be deemed suitable for reuse after removal and reset to accommodate the new vapor barrier installation. The second question pertains to three dormers being removed at the Tank Building and whether new framing and batt insulation must be installed under new metal panels. The response states that existing insulation is continuous across the dormer area (dormers are not visible from below), and Demolition Keynote 9 directs contractors to "infill with roof panels to match existing" at dormer locations, indicating no additional framing or insulation is required in these areas.

SOLICITATION NO. 1232SA26Q0971 – RFI RESPONSES
08/14/2026
1.) Note Number 1 on the Demo Drawings says to assume reusing 50% of the existing Insulation.
What is the thickness of the existing Insulation, since we have to install new R-30 Insulation which is 2 layers of 2.6” (5.2” Total = R-30)?
Demolition Keynote 1 is for the Lab Building. It notes to assume that 50% of the existing insulation on the lab roof will be good for reuse. It will need to be removed and reset to allow installation of the new vapor barrier.
2.) The 3 Dormers that are being removed, I do not see any details regarding this. Do we have to install new framing and or batt insulation under the new metal panels.
At the Tank Building, the existing insulation is continuous across the dormer area (the dormers are not visible from below). Demolition Keynote 9 notes to “infill with roof panels to match existing” at the dormer locations.
