About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers response for federal contract opportunity 1232SA26Q0952 regarding maintenance and cleaning of a cattle feed storage silo.
The silo is a 2020 BRAZOS 30-ton overhead feed bin grain bin constructed of 12-gauge steel with a gravity hopper discharge system. Key dimensions include an 11-foot-1-inch skid, 5.5-inch Schedule 80 pipe, 9-foot overhead clearance, 11-foot wide drive-through clearance, and a 45-degree bottom cone slope. Access is limited to a single 30-inch by 30-inch entry point on top with a fixed ladder platform. The silo contains approximately 5 tons of hardened cattle feed pellets requiring removal. The facility provides no utility connections and no confined-space support, making the contractor fully responsible for furnishing a complete confined-space entry program compliant with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146. The contractor must remove waste materials to an approved disposal location approximately 1,000 yards from the silo. The silo was installed in 2020 and has no documented deficiencies, inspection reports, or previous maintenance records, as this will be its first service.
