About this file
This is a Specification of Supplies document for a digital slide scanner system required by the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS). The solicitation seeks one multimodal microscope slide scanner with integrated analysis software and computer capable of brightfield and fluorescent imaging, meeting or exceeding the specifications of the Aperio FL120 Scanner or equivalent. The scanner must feature a dual-mode CMOS camera with 5.5 micron x 5.5 micron pixel resolution for brightfield and 6.5 x 6.5 micron for fluorescence, fully automated scanning with tissue identification, capacity to load and scan 120 slides per session, scan speed under 450 seconds for standard slides at 20X magnification, and z-plane scanning capabilities with 0.1-3 micron steps. Required optical components include 20X and 40X APO objectives with accommodation for 40X and 63X oil objectives with automated oiler, an 8-slot automatic filter wheel for fluorescent filters, and LED light source supporting DAPI, GFP, Orange, CY5, Red, and CY7 imaging. The system weight must not exceed 120 kg and dimensions must fit within existing laboratory space.
Delivery is firm-fixed price to the Responsive Agricultural Food Systems Research Unit at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, with a 60-day delivery deadline. The contractor must provide installation, comprehensive on-site training immediately following installation, one year of phone and virtual meeting support, a minimum one-year warranty from installation completion, and a complete service manual. Work shall be performed Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with contractor employees escorted and monitored throughout the facility. The evaluation criteria prioritize technical approach demonstrating ability to meet all specifications and pricing for all line items; failure to provide complete pricing may result in quote exclusion.

SPECIFICATION OF SUPPLIES
1.0 Specifications Description
USDA – ARS conducts research on histological analysis of plant and animal tissues and quantification of biomolecules such a proteins and nuclei acid in tissue sections. USDA – ARS requires a multimodal microscope slide scanner and integrated analysis software and computer capable of brightfield and fluorescent imaging. The slide scanner is utilized to view, collect and analyze histological images from standard stains, immunohistochemical, immunofluorescent and FISH applications. The instrument should meet or exceed the specifications of the Aperio FL120 Scanner, Brand Name or Equal.
Digital Slide Scanner, computer and software Quantity: 1
Unit Type: Each
Minimum Requirements:
A. Slide Scanner System Requirements:
1. A multimodal instrument that combines automated high-performance microscopy, image acquisition, scanning, and resolution of images of 5.5 micron X 5.5 micron pixel size in brightfield and 6.5 X 6.5 micron in fluorescence using dual-mode CMOS camera.
2. Instrument should provide fully automated scanning and interactive scanning with automated tissue identification and ability to scan in x, y and z planes. Z-plane scanning should be 0.1 - 3 micron steps for fluorescent imaging.
3. Should be able to create a 3D representation of a specimen.
