Specifications

Winter Pasture Salt

1. Introduction: Scientists at the Roman L. Hruska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) are developing scientific information and new technology to solve high priority problems for the U.S. beef, sheep, and swine industries. About 50 percent of the effort is with beef cattle, 30 percent with swine, and 20 percent with sheep. Pasture Salt is put out for cattle on grazing pastures as a supplement of necessary vitamins and minerals for the health of the animal.

2. Scope: The Contractor shall provide pasture salt in the description and quantity listed.

3. Technical Requirements:

•Product: Pasture Salt (70 Tons)

• Pasture Salt is custom mixed according to the specifications listed in Appendix A, B & C (see below).

• Pasture Salt is to be packaged in 50-pound bags and delivered to the USMARC feed mill. Any loads not meeting these specifications will be rejected.

• Truck drivers will need to coordinate with feed mill operations on delivery times and schedules but normal hours of 7:00am -3:30pm Monday-Friday are anticipated.

• Delivery must start within a week of award date.

• USMARC is anticipating 70 tons of pasture salt will be needed until April 30, 2026, with a minimum amount of 25 tons/month.

• US MARC can't take upfront delivery of the whole contracted amount, so receiving pasture salt every month will last the entire duration of the contract.

• USMARC will contact contractor a minimum of 2 weeks ahead of time to order the amount needed for the following month.

4. Place of performance: USDA/ARS/USMARC 844 Road 313 Clay Center NE 68933 Access to facility during normal business operations (Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm)
