About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers file for a roofing project with multiple roof areas requiring specific installation and coating requirements. The project mandates using Duro-Last roofing systems with induction welding for membrane installation, with no acceptable alternative manufacturers. Key details include requirements for Roof Area 1 (Red) involving gypsum cover board or recovery board installation, Roof Area 2 (Light Blue) involving concrete wall coating with a 20-year material and 2-year workmanship warranty, and Roof Area 3 (Dark Blue) requiring full area coating. No as-built drawings or core test results are available. Additional areas (Roof Areas 4 and 5) have specific coating and flashing requirements, with no definitive method specified for metal flashing repair. The document provides clarification on installation techniques, product specifications, warranty terms, and coating application methods across different roof sections.

Question and Answers

1. Is it required to use an induction method for roof installation, or would an adhered system be acceptable? Per the Statement of Work, the membrane must be induction welded

2. Are equivalent or superior products from manufacturers other than Durolast acceptable? Per the Statement of Work, system must be Duro-Last

3. Are any as-built drawings or roof plans available? No as-built plans are available.

4. Roof Area 1 (Red): Should we install either a gypsum cover board or recovery board over the existing roof without performing a full tear-off or modifying the existing substrate? Typically, a recovery board is used over an existing substrate. If required, we can check with the manufacturer to see if substitution with a cover board, or a combination of the two, would be acceptable. Cover board must meet Durolast specifications

5. Roof Area 2 (Light Blue): For coating over the concrete roof deck: This area is not a roof deck, it is a section of vertical concrete wall above the deck.

o Is there currently any coating over the deck? No apparent coating o Should reinforcement fabric only be applied over defects where recommended by the manufacturer, or over the entire roof? Cover defects per SOW at minimum. Entire area must not leak.

o Should the coating work include a warranty, and if so, what type? (Please note the specified product is a top coat; a base coat will also be required.) Per statement of work: 20yrs on material and 2yrs workmanship o Are other coating manufacturers with equivalent or superior products acceptable? No

6. Roof Area 3 (Dark Blue): Should the coating be applied over the entire roof area or only to defects/patches? Please confirm. We would also like to add that pressure washing is not recommended by the manufacturer. Coating to be applied on entire area.

7. Roof Area 4 (Light Green): Is there a specific membrane type preferred for metal cap flashing, or should we propose a recommendation? Additionally, should coating be applied to the entire roof or only a specific portion? No specific membrane requirement. The coating will be applied to the entire area.

8. Roof Area 5 (Dark Green): Should the flashing be repaired using a peel-and-stick membrane similar to the other roof, or should the metal flashing be repaired/replaced? No specific method is defined.

9. Do you have a core test result for the red section of the roof? No, there are no core sample results available.
