About this file
This document is a Minimum Specifications file for a Livestock Respiration Chamber, detailing technical requirements for a scientific research instrument designed to analyze gas emissions from beef cattle. The specifications outline a comprehensive system capable of measuring methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and hydrogen eructation from individual animals, with the ability to aggregate herd-level data. Key technical requirements include solar panel and trailer-based mobility, remote data collection via WiFi/cellular transfer, Windows-compatible software, autocalibration capabilities, and capacity to sample up to 30 animals simultaneously.
The respiration chamber is part of a Small Business Set-Aside solicitation (Solicitation Number: 1232SA25Q0328) issued by the USDA Agricultural Research Service, with quotes due by 07/25/2025 at 2pm EST. The procurement is for a single unit to be delivered 160 days after award to the USDA facility in Charlotte, VT, with a NAICS code of 334516 and a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. Vendors must submit quotes to Laura Nessa via email and complete required representations in the System for Award Management (SAM).
