About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document related to solicitation 12329246 for Biomedical Technician Services at the 48th Medical Support Squadron at RAF Lakenheath, UK. The document addresses 20 questions from potential offerors regarding the Defense Health Agency contract opportunity. Key details include that B French Consultant is the incumbent contractor holding contract HT001424P0246 valued at $233,608.16 with a performance period from September 30, 2024 to September 29, 2025. The requirement is for two full-time positions (one currently filled by a British contractor employee, one vacant) working Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm with no flexible schedules authorized.

Critical operational details revealed include that contractors must work independently in the UK without government relocation support or SOFA benefits, and new hires require security vetting that can take 90+ days to obtain base passes and CACs. The government will provide temporary escorted access through an Active Duty sponsor during the clearance process. Personnel may need to travel between RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Feltwell, and contractors not physically working will not be paid during absences. The government allows 30 days for personnel replacement if someone leaves mid-contract, and no overseas training requirements exist. Vendors can be registered outside the UK, and resumes are not required until after award.
