1205K320Q0042 Amendment 01- Questions and Answers

Q1: Do you know if the Forest Service wants a certain number of cruise plots per acre?

A1: No specific number of plots is required, the number of plots would be dictated by volume, variation, and complexity of the stands or parcels. No level of precision for the cruise is stated either but the 10% error mentioned above is the industry standard and what the Forest Service will look for. It is not stated because some projects a 10-15% or higher error may suffice, Forest Service did not want to place a hard mark like sub 10% to allow some flexibility.

Q2: Do we have any specs for this type of cruising?

A2: Specs would be industry standards with enough documentation and associated reports to verify volume on the timber stands. Reports required would be individual plot data, statistics, log tables, associated volume reports, etc. The typical cruise would be variable plot in the merchantable stands and fixed plots for the non-merchantable stands.

Q3: Would I be doing all the stand boundary delineation and laying out the cruise myself?

A3: Forest Service would review and approve a cruise plan, and boundary delineation prepared by the contractor. Forest Service may be available to discuss delineation and cruise setup but the Forest Service will not provide this for the cruise. Also Forest Service may check cruise the field work and will require plots are monumented as per the statement of work.
