Questions & Answers for Solicitation 1204R419Q0019
Question 1: Does item 6.3 of the schedule of items include climbing or is it just the caging? Or, would the tree need to be climbed and paid for under 6.1 to exercise 6.3 as implied in the relationship of 6.2 to 6.1? Or, is 6.1 applied every time the tree is climbed or once for both cone collecting and caging?
Answer 1: Item 6.3 is just for caging. If climbing is needed in order to cage, the contractor will be paid under 6.1 to climb, and paid under 6.3 to cage. Please note that item 8 will be removed because it is already covered under sub-item 6.3.
Question 2: Under Item 2; does “genetic site” = seed orchard? If so, what is the location(s) and what condition is it (are they) in (age, ht, competing vegetation, etc)?
Answer 2: Maps have been posted that identify potential sites, to include the genetic site. Genetic sites on the Forest are not equivalent to a well-groomed seed orchard that you would find at a nursery.
Question 3: Does platform under item 7 = boom truck or cherry picker? Are there any conforming specs or limitations?
Answer 3: No specifications are identified for item 7 other than safety operations. The contractor may choose their aerial platform, as long as the platform will not cause damage to the site, stand, or individual tree. A boom truck or cherry picker would be acceptable.
Question 4: For items 1 and 3-6 “natural stands” are tree locations spread throughout the several seed zones of each district?
Answer 4: Yes, there may be multiple seed zones across multiple districts.
Question 5: In the Work statement under 1.0 Introduction; are the estimated quantities for all seven districts for each year or for all seven districts for the 5 years of contract duration?
Answer 5: The estimates are the annual estimate needed for the entire Forest, assuming there was a viable crop each year.
