About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a preventative maintenance contract for a Hamilton NGS star pipetting system. The objective is to ensure the proper function of all aspects of the Hamilton NGS star pipetting system through independent verification of various system components such as volume, temperature, and barcode reading.
The SOW specifies the scope of work, which includes volume verification, heater/shaker verification, barcode read verification, and door lock mechanism testing. The contract also includes priority dispatch with 24-hour response time for a down instrument, a 48-hour guaranteed response time, and a 4-hour guaranteed call back time. The contract period of performance is from 6/05/24 through 6/05/25. This is a sole source contract with Hamilton Robotics as the only manufacturer and seller of the Hamilton NGS star instrument. The contracting agency is the Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Veterinary Services.

Statement of Work (SOW) for Hamilton Robotics Preventative Maintenance.
1.0 General
1.1 Background
The mission of the NVSL DBPL MB Section is to Genotype bacterial pathogens and viruses that potentially cause disease in animals. DBPL MB also serves as a reference laboratory and frequently receives bacterial isolates for identification and/or Genotyping. This acquisition allows DBL MB to Genotype bacterial isolates quickly and efficiently. The sooner a pathogen can be Genotyped the faster proper treatment can be given to an animal or herd, steps taken to protect a herd or potential sources of zoonotic infections be determined. Genotyping also helps to eliminate most of the on-ground portion of tracing infected herds to an origin of infection. Being able to trace a herd’s infection by using bacterial snips save millions of dollars per outbreak in random testing in the field. The old method of tracing a source of infection required months of testing in the field to determine the source of infection. The Hamilton robotics system allows for a quicker and more accurate pipetting while also relieving the pressure points around the constant pipetting required for setup. Having a PM in place allows for 2 preventative maintenance calibrations in a year and ensures that we are producing the most accurate and consistent results available.
1.2 Objective
These are preventative maintenance contracts for Hamilton robotics NGS star system. These are to ensure the proper function of all aspects of the Hamilton NGS star pipetting system. Along with verification of all functioning parts as expected.
1.3 Scope of Work
These include independent channel Volume Verification for 1 mL and 5 mL channels, Volume verification for 96 and 384 Multi-Probe Heads, Heater/Shaker Verification which includes Amplitude, Frequency and Temperature. Barcode read verification and XYZ position verification. And ensure the door lock mechanism works properly. Should the system have issues outside of the normal PM visits this ensures that Priority dispatch with a target response of 24 hours for a down instrument, a guaranteed response time of 48 hours for a down instrument, a guaranteed call back time of 4 hours and the cost of parts, travel, and labor are all included in this PM contract.
1.4 Period of Performance
Starting 6/05/24 through6/05/25
1.5 Place of Performance
The Hamilton NGS Star is used at a government facility, and only on days when government operations are being conducted.
