460-B ROAD DECOMMISSIONING
WORK LIST
ROAD NO. 460-B
*Recommend field.
Road 460B begins off road 460 beyond Fan Saddle. Access is via roads 101, 486, 5525, and 460. The road is gated at the beginning and is closed year long to all vehicles. No work is planned under this contract for the first 0.90 miles of road 460B at Placer Creek which is to be kept on the Forest Service System. The work to be done starts at MP 0.90 and ends at MP 1.94 and includes numerous seeps and dry draws. Road widths range from 12 to 20 feet and fill depths average 5’ - 15’. The ground is steep and the fills are very large. Material in the large fill is required to be hauled away to stable areas either within the project area (ridge points) or offsite in waste areas approved by CO. These may be up to 10 miles away. See Remarks in the Work List for estimated volumes. The cost of this haul is incidental to the Roadway Obliteration. There is a fill failure at MP
1.23 for approximately 50’ where the road is as narrow as 6’. It is anticipated that an excavator will not have any trouble getting enough width for short term access.
Work to be done at this site consists of:
• Recontouring the road prism for 0.94 miles
• Restoring stream channels to their natural grade and dimensions and revegetating as per the specifications
• Draining seeps and wet ditches using cross drain channels and vegetation mats
• Providing necessary erosion control including sediment trapping and live stream diversions as per the specifications.
