Questions & Answers for 12020219s0008 Fish Rearing Tanks 2nd Edition 8/27/2019
| Q | The sidewall of the tank is to be | 34” | |||
| The Skirt on the tank is to be | 10” | ||||
| TOTAL | 44” | ||||
| Yet, underneath the tank there is a sloped bottom | 2” | ||||
| Plus a 2” pipe and elbow or at a minimum of | 3” | ||||
| Plus according to Q and A sheet, a drain pipe at least | 15” above the ground | ||||
| That totals 20” below the sidewall of the tank or 10” below the skirt | |||||
| What are the correct dimensions of the plumbing below the tank and the length of the skirt? | |||||
| A | The skirt on the tank needs to be high enough to lift the bottom of the tank and provide for the sloping at the bottom of the tank and provide an elbow fitting for drain and still maintain a 2” clearance from the ground. With a 15” skirt to the sides of the tank and considering the 2” slope that still provides 13” of room for the elbow. The sides of the tank above the skirt need to be high enough to support a volume of water equal to 240 gallons. | ||||
| Q | Are we to assume that the inside to be with fish compatible gel-coat? | ||||
| A | USDA approved yes. | ||||
| Q | Since there was no mention of inside or outside color, are we able to use what we have or can get for the best price? | ||||
| A | The colors of the inside and/or outside should be either blue or grey. | ||||
| Q | Is there any additional information on the clear lids that are mentioned in the specifications? Specifically, are you looking for acrylic or polycarbonate? | ||||
| A | Regarding the covers for the tanks, they can be either acrylic or polycarbonate, they just need to be opaque such that most of the sunlight is able to penetrate the cover. We do not need to be able to clearly view the fish through the covers. | ||||
| Q | Also, would they be bolted on through the flange? | ||||
| A | The lids do need to be hinged such that they can be lifted to view the fish but they are not required to be bolted to the flange. | ||||
| Q | How thick does the fiberglass cover need to be? | ||||
| A | at least .5 cm |
Regarding the thickness of the tank, the tank is expected to be able to adequately hold 240 gallons of water and handle extreme changes in temperature (from -30 degrees F to 115 degrees F) in full sunlight without cracking or breaking down for an extended period of time. The thickness of the tank wall should be representative of this durability.
