No information given on this document amends the solicitation.
Question 1: Do the pipes that are buried 7 feet need to be insulated?
Answer 1: The pipe that is buried 7 feet deep is not insulated. Where the pipe is less than 7 feet deep (where it comes through the stem walls of buildings), the trench needs to be insulated per Drawing D2, Detail 3, Note 9. Yes, valve boxes are insulated and also piping, valves, and meters within crawl spaces (per Drawing D5, Note 9).
Question 2: Does all the asphalt need to be removed or is a layer being added to the existing blacktop?
Answer 2: The scope of work for paving is described on page 5 of the contract under Option Items. It is also described on page 4 of the Specifications document under Option Items. It is a 2” overlay on top of existing asphalt after proper cleaning and prep to install new asphalt, as well as paint striping.
