INTRODUCTION AND PROGRAM HISTORY

Multnomah County Vector Control protects public health and enhances livability through the control of mosquito and rodent populations, and serves as a resource for addressing public health vector problems.

Programs include Rodent Control, Mosquito Control and Code Enforcement to enforce county and city municipal codes.

Vector Control’s surveillance, education, and prevention and control activities are executed in accordance with and the authority granted from Oregon Revised Statute 452, reference attachment Chapter 452 – Vector Control in the Buyer Attachments section of the sourcing event.

A Vector is an organism, typically a biting insect, or small animal that transmits a disease or parasite from one animal or plant to another. In Multnomah County, mosquitoes and rats are two of the most common vectors.

Description https://solutions.sciquest.com/apps/Router/SupplierLogin?CustOrg=Multnomah https://meet.google.com/vod-utwh-nkf

The mission of Multnomah County Vector Control (MCVC) and Code Enforcement is to promote community livability by managing vector-borne diseases through surveillance and suppression of vector populations, with Code Enforcement to maintain and support those actions. MCVC works in cooperation with surrounding communities and other contracting entities to address emerging vector-borne disease issues.

Vector Control functions also include the distribution of mosquitofish to County residents to manage mosquito larvae common in ornamental ponds and pools, performing rodent inspections to assist residents in the control of rats in and around their homes, and to provide technical assistance to landowners and community organizations on the prevention of vectors and vector borne disease.

SPECIFICATIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
