Project CNC Router Table – equipment purchase
General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
The purpose of this Scope of Work is to outline the specifications, responsibilities, and deliverables associated with the procurement, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a high-performance CNC router system with 5x8 Working Area. The system will support fire behavior research and modeling efforts by enabling the fabrication of precise test components, combustible material panels, and structural models used in laboratory and computational experiments.
2.0 Background
The US Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station, Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory is requesting purchase of a CNC Router Table. This equipment would enhance design, development, and building the research products for purposes of fire behavior, training, and firefighter safety. The Missoula Fire Sciences Lab has a long-standing role and reputation for science innovation that applies to fire management systems, fire behavior, interdisciplinary research, fire and ecosystems along with smoke emissions.
Vendor Requirements
3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks
The vendor will supply a fully assembled CNC routing table with the following features:
Structure and Build
· A strong and durable steel frame and gantry made from large steel tubes, designed for industrial use.
· Safety limit switches on all three axes (X, Y, and Z) that help keep the machine aligned and prevent it from moving beyond set boundaries.
· An emergency stop button for quickly shutting down the machine if needed.
· Precision ball screw drives to move the machine smoothly and accurately on the X, Y, and Z axes.
· High-quality brushless motors to control movement on all axes.
· Smooth and precise guide rails on all moving parts, with special design features to protect the important components.
Control System and Software
· A reliable CNC controller system to operate the machine.
· Vectric VCarve Pro software to create and control cutting patterns and designs.
Features and Accessories
· A sturdy and comfortable operator control stand.
· A smooth MDF tabletop for placing materials during cutting.
· A tool measuring device that quickly measures tool height without changing the cutting depth, making tool changes faster.
· A dust skirt with a 4-inch outlet to connect to a dust collection system and keep the work area clean.
Support and Training
· Lifetime technical support is available via phone, email, and remote assistance.
· Access to online training videos and materials, plus the onsite training.
Tool Changer and Spindle
· A powerful 8kW (10HP) spindle with an automatic tool changer that holds 6 tools and can spin up to 24,000 RPM.
· Tool holders and collectors included for common tool sizes (1/4", 3/8", 1/2"), along with all necessary accessories.
· Automatic and manual control of spindle speed and operation.
· Special air-assisted technology to make raising and lowering the cutting head easier and smoother.
Tabletop Options
· Aluminum T-slots built into the table surface every 8 inches for easy clamping and holding of materials.
· A complete clamp kit included for securing workpieces during cutting.
Material Height Setting
· An electronic device to quickly and easily set the material height independently of the tool, making setup faster and more accurate.
