About this file
The document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) spreadsheet for a USDA Forest Service contract to replace toilets at Bates Canyon Campground in Los Padres National Forest. The Q&A addresses critical project details including site logistics, demolition requirements, and potential equipment alternatives. Key clarifications include: no road maintenance will be provided by the government, the new vault toilet can be installed near the existing restrooms, and demolition will require contractors to pump, clean, and remove existing vault toilet structures. The government will consider alternative prefabricated toilet solutions but offers no guarantee of approval.
The related federal contract opportunity involves replacing two existing toilet buildings with a single precast concrete vault toilet building, with a project scope encompassing site grading, excavation, sidewalk construction, and complete site preparation. The project is classified under NAICS code 237990 for Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction, with a contract value between $100,000 and $250,000. The period of performance spans from August 29, 2025, to March 12, 2026 (210 days), and requires Davis-Bacon wage rates and bonds for projects valued over $35,000. A pre-bid site visit will be scheduled and announced on SAM.gov prior to the Request for Proposal (RFP) period's conclusion.
