About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for annual maintenance and service contracts for three Genesis 25L freeze dry/lyophilize platforms with Wizard Control Boards at the National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) in Ames, Iowa. Two units are located in the Proficiency Testing and Reagents section (PTR) and one in the Brucella and Mycobacterium Reagents Team & Hemoparasite Reagents Unit (BMRT-HRU).

The contractor must provide one preventative maintenance visit per year to inspect and calibrate the equipment according to NIST standards, including checking static pressure, facility voltage, and ambient temperature. The service includes parts replacement (gaskets, oil, seals), fluid leak inspection, and free online technical support. The period of performance is one year from award date, with maintenance to be performed within 45 days of award. Personnel must be trained on Genesis 25 EL Wizard board maintenance and comply with biosafety level 2 requirements. Services must be scheduled Monday-Friday between 8 AM and 4:30 PM, and contractors must present photo ID for facility access. All travel costs must be included in the contract price.

Project Genesis 25 EL with Wizard Control Maintenance and Service plan

General Information

1.0 Scope of Work

National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) to acquire annual maintenance and service contract for (3) Genesis 25L with a Wizard Control Board freeze dry/lyophilize platforms: Item 100278536 with serials 330093 & 330094 in the Proficiency Testing and Reagents section (PTR) and item 100028718 with serial 328634 in the Brucella and Mycobacterium Reagents Team & Hemoparasite Reagents Unit (BMRT-HRU).

2.0 Background

The Genesis 25 EL with Wizard control Freeze dry/lyophilize laboratory instruments were purchased in 2021 and 2022. These freeze-dry/lyophilize platforms are essential to many of the diagnostic reagents produced by both PTR and BMRT-HRU to ensure long-term preservation and stability during storage and transportation of the reagents. The 2 Freeze/Dry machines in PTR are used multiple times each month to produce hundreds of reagents to help aid in diagnostic testing such as High Path Avian Influenza and other domestic diseases. While the BMRT-HRU Freeze/Dryer is used slightly less frequently, but the primary use is to preserve reagents produced from animals that have cost the organization tens of thousands of dollars to produce. Reference materials produced by both PTR and BMRT-HRU are accredited by ISO 17024. Therefore, all 3 instruments require an annual calibration/service and the accessibility to as needed service throughout the year. Maintaining a yearly service plan on these machines is necessary to meet both ISO requirements as well as internal and external stakeholders’ expectations for suitable reagents for diagnostic testing.

Contractor Requirements

Parts such as the gaskets, oil, seals specific to the (3) Genesis 25 EL will be provided and changed as part of the contract.
