Option Bid: The existing exterior doors and frame at the back of the building are rusting and shall be replaced with galvanized hollow metal doors. This is a separate door from the curtain wall. See Section 2. Bid Option.
Provide the system and door submittals as part of the proposal. Additional current condition photos are at the bottom of the document.
1. SCOPE BASE BID
1.1. Contractor must remove and dispose of the existing curtain wall. The metal shall be recycled in the base metal dumpster.
Front Entrance
1.1. Contractor must provide a system complete with framing, aluminum threshold, hinges, door, heavy-duty door closure, mullions, trim, panels, windows, glass, glazing, sealants, insulation, fasteners, anchors, accessories, concealed auxiliary members, and attachment devices for securing the wall to the structure as specified or indicated.
1.2. Provide weatherstripping, exterior gaskets, sealants, and other accessories to resist water and air penetration.
1.3. The curtain system shall have a similar appearance to the existing system shown in the figure above.
1.4. The curtain system must be a heavy-duty commercial quality galvanized steel or aluminum system with anodized aluminum finish and conform to AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101.
1.5. The curtain glass must be 1” tempered low-e.
1.6. The door must be medium stile, 1” clear tempered low-e, 10” bottom rail, rim panic exit device, 1” diameter pull handle, and a 4” x ½” aluminum threshold. For purposes of this specification, a structural thermal barrier is defined as a system that transfers shear during bending and, therefore, promotes composite action between the exterior and interior extrusions. Do not use a nonstructural thermal barrier.
Ensure that the thermal barrier provides a structural connection between the two sides of the door.
1.9. The curtain system and the door color must match the original/current color.
1.10. Provide adequate means to weep incidental water and condensation away from the sealed edges of insulated glass units and out of the wall system. The weeping of lock-strip gaskets must be in accordance with the recommendation of the glass manufacturer.
1.11. Provide internal ventilation and drainage system of weeps based on principles of pressure equalization to ventilate the wall internally and to discharge condensation and water leakage to the exterior as inconspicuously as possible. Flashings and other materials used internally must be nonstaining, noncorrosive, and nonbleeding.
1.12. Contractor must confirm that no leaks are present after the wall and door installation.
1.13. Should the tiles adjacent to the wall need to be removed, Contractor shall provide and install the whole line of tiles along the curtain wall. The tile location is shown at the bottom of the document. The tiles shall match/combine with the rest of the floor.
1.14. Contractor to provide and install sofit and ceiling tile to match the existing structure and leave no opening.
1.15. Once the demolition begins, the project shall be completed within five (5) days from the start of the demolition.
1.16. Contractor shall protect the work area from the weather during construction.
1.17. At the conclusion of work, the Contractor shall fill out and sign a form DD1354 to signify the acceptance of the project by ANG and authorize the capitalization of the asset.
The Project will not be approved past 95% payment without the DD1354 completed and ready for signature. Draft DD1354 is attached (Fill out the company information and the line cost per building. Line cost must add up to the project cost).
