About this file

This document is a Notice of Proposed Sole Source Procurement from Salt Lake County for ZONO Sanitizing Childcare Cabinets. The procurement seeks to purchase six (6) sanitizing cabinets from ZONO Technologies at $25,400 per cabinet, totaling $152,400, through a sole source procurement process. The notice was issued on September 23, 2022, with comments due by September 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM Mountain Daylight Time. The cabinets are specifically designed for childcare centers and feature unique safety characteristics, including a green start button, emergency stops, magnetic locks, and ozone sensors.

The justification for sole source procurement centers on the specialized nature of the ZONO Ozone sanitization cabinet, which is approved by childcare licensing and offers eco-friendly disinfection without emissions. The cabinets can effectively clean various childcare items including toys, dolls, blocks, blankets, cots, mats, crib mattresses, and crayons, and can also eliminate bed bugs and lice. The procurement will be handled through the Salt Lake County Division of Contracts and Procurement, with Jason Yocom as the contact person. Any potential respondents are instructed to send comments directly to the contact email and not through the Utah Public Procurement Place.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED SOLE SOURCE PROCUREMENT

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)

SALT LAKE COUNTY

Notice #: PAR092322

The Division of Contracts and Procurement has received a request to purchase from a “sole source” vendor. If, for any reason, any party does not agree that this sole source purchase is applicable, please email the contact person for Salt Lake County Contracts and Procurement Division prior to the “Comments Due Date:” indicated below:

Title: ZONO SANITIZING CHILDCARE CABINETS

SOLE SOURCE JUSTIFICATION

Sole source procurement is appropriate when goods or services are only available from a single vendor; when the most important consideration is the standardization or compatibility of equipment, materials, technology, software accessories, replacement parts, or service; where transitional costs are unreasonable or cost prohibitive; or if it otherwise qualifies under County Ordinance 3.20.030.

The Zono Ozone sanitization & disinfecting cabinet was designed specifically for childcare centers due to the Zono childcare specific safety features which include: green start button, emergency stops inside and outside of the unit, magnetic locks that prevent opening of the doors during sanitization process, ozone sensors & is eco‐friendly so there are NO emissions. Since there are no emissions, this unit does not require a ventilation system. These machines are approved by childcare licensing.

This machine has the ability to effectively clean toys, dolls, blocks, blankets, cots, mats, crib mattresses, crayons. Additionally, it can kill bed bugs, lice & their eggs.

The county plans to purchase six (6) cabinets at $25,400 / cabinet for a total purchase of $152,400.
