About this file

This document is a detailed specification for a Salt Storage Facility project for the City of Newark, New Jersey, providing comprehensive technical requirements for constructing a salt storage building and associated infrastructure. The project involves building a 30 ft wide by 40 ft deep salt storage structure with a 20 ft wide by 30 ft high access doorway, situated on 10-foot-high concrete bin blocks or reinforced concrete walls. Additional components include a 16 ft by 10 ft shed with a unisex handicap-accessible toilet and mechanical room, retaining walls approximately 290 linear feet long, chain link fencing, a 5,000-gallon grounded salt tank pad, a scale for weighing triaxle trucks, and preparation of a 21,000 sq. ft. property for asphalt installation.

The specifications outline rigorous technical requirements across multiple divisions, including excavation, concrete work, metals, wood, roofing, electrical systems, and finishing. Key technical specifications include using epoxy-coated rebar, concrete walls designed to resist salt corrosion, specific roofing and window requirements, and electrical installations resistant to salt environment conditions. The project emphasizes durability, with requirements for concrete sealing, corrosion-resistant materials, and warranties including a one-year building guarantee and a five-year roof warranty. The contractor must be experienced in salt storage facility construction and will be responsible for all design drawings, engineering certifications, and compliance with local building codes and regulations.
