KTA Request for Bid – Annual Ice-Control Salt, FY 2027 RFB#: 160-260330

FIN-05-01172020 1

DESCRIPTION

The following Request for Quote is for the annual purchase of Bulk Salt for road ice control by the Kansas Turnpike Authority. The KTA reserves the right to waive technicalies under these specificaons.

BASIS OF PURCHASE

Salt must meet the included specificaons below.

The KTA reserves the right to pick up and haul salt directly from the contractor’s source of supply when it is considered advantageous or desirable. Salt purchased at F.O.B. plant prices will be picked up by the Kansas Turnpike Authority trucks unless otherwise advised. The KTA is a Polical Subdivision of the State of Kansas and therefore has KDOT status when placing orders.

Salt purchased F.O.B. Kansas Turnpike Maintenance Areas will be delivered as ordered within 5 working days aer placing order. Should the contractor fail to complete delivery of an order within five (5) working days on each order, the KTA shall retain ten cents per ton per calendar day exclusive of Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays on the undelivered poron of the order. Salt may be hauled in end-dump trucks or belly dump trucks. Deliveries are to be made during normal working hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, unless special provisions are made. We reserve the right to order addional quanes during the season without any change in contract prices. Addional quanes will be a minimum order of twenty-three tons per order. The contract period shall run from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027.

The Kansas Turnpike Authority reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids or part of a bid, to waive technicalies under these specificaons, and to reject delivery of any product not meeng specificaons. The Kansas Turnpike Authority may purchase Ice Control Salt that most closely conforms to the specificaons based on a review of any variances and the bid prices submited. Lowest bid price does not guaranty a successful bid selecon.

All prices quoted are to be less federal excise, state, county and local sales taxes.
