About this file
This is an Insurance Certificate Requirements document for Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), a school district in Georgia, establishing mandatory insurance coverage standards that service providers must maintain before commencing work at any GCPS facility. Contractors are required to provide and maintain three primary types of insurance throughout the duration of their work: Worker's Compensation and Employer Liability Insurance with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence in compliance with Georgia statutory requirements; Commercial General Liability Insurance with a general aggregate limit of $2,000,000, personal and advertising injury limits of $1,000,000, premises and operations limits of $1,000,000, and each occurrence limits of $1,000,000; and Contractual Automobile Liability Insurance with combined single limits of at least $500,000 per accident for any vehicles used in performance of services. The specific contract referenced involves on-demand fire alarm, fire sprinkler, and fire extinguisher services.
Contractors must submit Certificates of Insurance to GCPS's Department of Purchasing and Property Management at 437 Old Peachtree Road, Suwanee, Georgia 30024-2978 prior to commencing any work. Each certificate must include a provision requiring thirty days' written notice to GCPS in the event of policy cancellation or material changes. GCPS must be named as an additional insured on all liability policies, with such policies endorsed to provide primary coverage over any GCPS-carried insurance. All insurance premiums remain the contractor's responsibility with no recourse against the district, and no work may begin until all required insurance is in full force and certificates have been received and approved by GCPS.
