DIVISION 1
SCOPE OF WORK
SCOPE OF WORK
The City of Nashua is seeking Bids from qualified firms to design and build a new wading pool at
Greeley Park. The City is proposing a full renovation consisting of a complete replacement of the existing wading pool in the same location. The project will include design and construction of a new wading pool, installation of new intake and discharge water lines, and construction of new concrete decking around the pool. The City will be responsible for demolition and removal of the existing pool, as well as excavation and grading for the new pool; however, the selected vendor will be expected to provide some oversight during excavation activities.
The current wading pool, originally constructed in 1923, has long served as a heavily used gathering area for residents to bring their young children to cool off during the summer months. In recent years, however, the pool has become increasingly problematic due to cracks in the concrete that cause ongoing water loss. In some cases, the loss is significant enough to require the pool to be shut down until repairs can be made, including repointing cracks and repainting the surface. As a result, the pool has experienced periodic closures during normal operating months over the past three summers, creating a recurring inconvenience for residents.
The wading pool will be reinforced gunite structure of a “Free Form” design. The bond beam will be 12” thick and walls and floor to be 8” thick, with rounded corners and radius contours between walls and floor. The pool will measure approximately 20 feet by 38 feet, with an area of 665 square feet, a perimeter of 111 feet, depths ranging from 1 to 2 feet, and a total holding capacity of approximately 7,500 gallons of water. The interior finish will consist of a pebble surface.
Concrete decking surrounding the pool will consist of 1,200 square feet of exposed aggregate finished concrete, including cantilever edges, control joints, wire mesh, forming, and placement. Please list the cost for the concrete decking shall be separately from the cost of the wading pool and associated piping.
All labor and materials to complete this work should be included.
Liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day will be assessed for delays beyond May 21, 2027.
The selected vendor will be responsible for preparing and submitting all required permitting and engineering documentation to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services
(NHDES) for the construction of the new wading pool. NHDES Pool and Spa has specific rules and technical standards that must be followed. For questions regarding NHDES requirements, Tim Wilson, Manager of NHDES Public Pool and Spa, may be contacted at 603-271-7108 or
