STATEMENT OF WORK

SECTION 1 - GENERAL INFORMATION

1.1 BACKGROUND

The USDA, ARS, Adaptive Cropping Systems Laboratory (ACSL) requires contractor support to provide Annual Preventative Maintenance for Eight (8) Indoor Growth Chamber Units.

ACSL conducts research which involves the use of multiple indoor electric lamp growth chamber units which provide control over lighting, temperature, and other growth conditions needed to support plant growth experiments. These systems incorporate various specialized heating, cooling, and ventilation hardware, electronic sensing and control, software components, and internal components needed for plant cultural purposes. These growth chamber units are also utilized nearly 365 days of the year. Each chamber involves complex, mechanical, electrical, and hardware components which require maintenance to ensure appropriate performance specifications are achieved. Without preventative maintenance (PM) conducted by certified technicians, chambers may fail and create a critical impact on the ability of the laboratory’s research program.

1.2 SCOPE OF WORK

The vendor must provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and services necessary to perform annual preventative maintenance support services as defined herein.

Preventative maintenance (PM) and repair service is to be conducted on eight (8) individual growth chamber units manufactured by CONVIRON, as noted in this document. Chambers are:

-Two (2) walk-in BDW120 models: serial numbers 210156, 210157

At the completion of each PM service a report indicating completion of check-lists and potential trouble areas for each individual chamber which may need to be addressed by USDA/ACSL is to be delivered via email to the lead Technical Scientist assigned to the contract.
