About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the Six Rivers National Forest Orleans Ranger District Road Repair Project, located in California. The project involves repairing sections of Forest Service Roads 10N01 and 10N10, and the Orleans Mountain Lookout Road. Specific work requirements include removing and stockpiling aggregate base and rip rap, preparing and backfilling damaged road areas, reconditioning roadways and rolling dips, applying cold patch and asphalt chip-seal, and installing traffic control markers. The contractor must complete all work within 60 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, using their own equipment, personnel, and materials. The project area is southeast of Highway 96, near the Orleans Ranger District, with specific access routes detailed in the document.
Key technical specifications include reshaping road surfaces to a uniform grade, mechanically placing rip rap to create a dense blanket, applying aggregate base, compacting surfaces, and ensuring a smooth, uniform road finish. The contractor is responsible for equipment cleaning, preventing noxious weed spread, and following specific Forest Service regulations regarding road use, heritage/archeological discoveries, and environmental protection. Material certifications and testing reports are required for items like cold patch mix design and chip seal composition, with varying government approval timelines ranging from 14 to 30 days after submittal.
