About this file

This is a Brand Name Justification document for Cummins diesel generator replacement parts for the Navy's Carrier Strike Group Four, TSV5 Vindicator vessel. The procurement covers critical spare parts for four (4) Cummins QSK60 main diesel generators and one (1) Cummins KTA19 emergency diesel generator, with an estimated cost specified in the FY25 budget. The Navy's NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center in Norfolk intends to acquire original equipment manufacturer (OEM) direct replacement parts to prevent equipment downtime, ensure operational safety, and maintain mission readiness.

The justification cites statutory authority under 41 U.S.C. 1901 for simplified acquisition procedures, emphasizing that any deviation from OEM parts could compromise the generators' functionality. The contract will be funded through Navy Operations & Maintenance appropriations, and while no competitive solicitation is planned, the contracting officer has determined the anticipated costs to be fair and reasonable. The point of contact is Daniel Petro at NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk, who can be reached at commercial (757) 589-6970 or daniel.p.petro.civ@us.navy.mil.
