SPECIFICATIONS

TRANSFORMER, PAD-MOUNTED, FLUID-FILLED

1.1 SUBMITTALS

1.1.1 Submit shop drawings for approval prior to fabrication. Shop drawings shall indicate outline dimensions, connection and support points, weight, specified ratings, materials and accessories.

1.1.2 Submit product data indicating standard model design tests and options.

1.1.3 Submit manufacturer's installation instructions.

1.1.4 Submit manufacturer’s operation and maintenance data, including procedures for sampling and maintaining fluid, cleaning unit, and replacing components.

2.1 TRANSFORMER SPECIFICATIONS

2.1.1 Transformer shall be compartmental type, self cooled, green in color, tamper proof and weatherproof for mounting on a pad and shall comply with the latest applicable ANSI and NEMA standards.

2.1.2 The average temperature rise of the windings, measured by the resistance method, shall be 65 C when the transformer is operated at rated KVA output in a 40 C ambient. The transformer shall be capable of being operated at rated load in a 30 C average, 40 C maximum ambient, as defined by ANSI C57.12.00 without loss of service life expectancy.

3.1.3 Transformer impedance shall be in accordance with IEEE C57.12.00 and shall be within plus or minus 7.5% of the following values:

Transformer Size Impedance

75 – 225KVA 4.00%Z

300 – 500KVA 5.00%Z

750KVA and higher 5.75%Z

2.1.3 Coolant and insulating fluid shall be Cooper Power Envirotemp FR3 or approved equal.

2.1.4 High and low voltage compartments shall be located side-by-side, separated by a steel barrier. When facing the transformer, the low voltage compartment shall be on the right. Terminal compartments shall be full height, air filled, with individual doors. The high voltage door fastenings shall not be accessible until the low voltage door has been opened. The low voltage door shall have a 3-point latching mechanism with vault type handle having provisions for a single padlock. The doors shall be equipped with lift-off hinges to allow the doors to be removed and door stops to hold the doors open if not removed while working in the compartments. The front of both compartments shall be removable to allow the transformer to be rolled or skidded into position over conduit stubs.

Transformer finish shall be standard ANSI green.

2.1.5 The following standard features shall be provided:

A. Nameplate in LV compartment B. 1" upper filter press and filling plug in LV compartment.

C. Tap changer, for de-energized operation only, which is externally operable and pad lockable, located in HV compartment.

D. ANSI approved tank grounding provisions shall be furnished in both compartments.

2.1.6 Transformer kVA rating shall be as specified. Primary voltage shall be 12470 Volts delta with two, 2 ½% full capacity above normal taps and two 2 ½% full capacity below normal taps.

Secondary voltage shall be either 208Y/120VAC or 480Y/277VAC as specified. Basic Impulse Level of the primary winding shall be 95 kV.

2.1.7 Transformer shall be of sealed tank construction of sufficient strength to withstand a pressure of 7 psi without permanent distortion. The cover shall be welded and the fastenings tamper proof. The transformer shall remain effectively sealed for a top oil temperature range of -30 C to 105 C. When required, cooling fins shall be provided on the back and sides of the tank. Lifting eyes and jacking pads shall be provided.

2.1.8 Coils shall be wound with aluminum conductors.

2.1.9 Core/coil assembly shall be of the five legged wound core type, using high grade, grain oriented silicon steel laminations carefully annealed after fabrication to restore high magnetic permeability. Magnetic flux is to be kept well below the saturation point.

2.1.10 High voltage terminations and equipment shall be dead front type and conform to ANSI C57.12.26 requirements. Dead front bushings shall be universal wells for use with 200 Amp load break separable connectors. Bushings shall be externally clamped and front removable. High voltage bushings shall be provided in loop-feed configuration. Parking stands shall be provided adjacent to each bushing. Load break inserts shall be provided for three bushings and load break feed-through inserts shall be provided in the remaining three bushings. Protective caps shall be provided for all of the inserts. Bushings shall be staggered in height between the phases and the highest bushing shall be no more than 38 inches on center above pad level.

2.1.11 Low voltage bushings shall be molded epoxy, and provided with blade type spade terminals with NEMA standard hole spacing arranged for vertical take-off. The neutral shall be an insulated bushing, grounded to the tank by a removable strap. Bushings shall be no more than 38 inches on center above pad level.
