About this file
The document is a set of painting specifications for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, detailing comprehensive exterior painting requirements for facility surfaces. The specifications outline a complete painting project involving exterior siding, wood trim, and metal surfaces, with strict guidelines for surface preparation, priming, and painting execution. The contractor is required to use Sherwin-Williams products, specifically Super Paint for exterior siding in "Fireweed" color with a satin sheen, Pro Industrial Water-based Alkyd Urethane for metal surfaces in the same "Fireweed" color with a semi-gloss finish, and Super Paint in "Espresso" color with a satin sheen for exterior fascia.
The painting specifications include detailed requirements for surface preparation, including cleaning, repairing, and priming surfaces before painting. The contractor must use manufacturer-recommended primers and paints, ensuring proper application techniques such as back-rolling and careful spraying to prevent overspray. The project mandates extreme caution during painting, with the contractor responsible for protecting surrounding areas, equipment, and completing daily cleanup. The specifications also stipulate that the contractor will be held responsible for any damages to facility or equipment during the contract performance, and the final work area will be subject to inspection by the project manager before final payment.
