About this file
This is a Notice of Intent to Sole Source filed by the City of Palm Bay, Florida Department of Utilities regarding the standardization and procurement of DiscFlo Pumps for lime slurry conveyance. The City intends to designate Gerber Pumps International, Inc. (GPi) as the sole source vendor for this equipment at the North Regional Water Treatment Plant. The procurement notice was posted on September 1, 2026, with a response deadline of Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 5:00 PM, to be submitted through the Bonfire platform. Vendors who believe they can meet or exceed the stated requirements must provide technical data supporting their capability to compete. Responses will be evaluated solely to determine whether bona fide competition exists and whether to proceed with competitive procurement; responses will not be considered as formal proposals, bids, or quotes.
The standardization of DiscFlo pumps is justified by significant cost savings, specifically the elimination of approximately $24,000 in annual expenses currently spent on peristaltic hose replacements, along with reductions in associated maintenance costs. Gerber Pumps International, Inc. is identified as the exclusive distributor of the proprietary boundary layer/viscous drag DiscFlo pump design for municipal, pulp and paper, and general industrial markets across Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Colorado. No specific contract term, renewal options, or detailed pricing information is provided in this notice.
