About this file

This Brand Name Justification document from the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Desert Southwest Region Procurement Office outlines the need to procure an OMICRON CMC 356 Test Set on a sole source basis from OMICRON. WAPA requires the test set and supporting RelaySimTest software to perform end-to-end testing of its power system. OMICRON is identified as the only manufacturer that can provide equipment compatible with WAPA's existing relay test sets and test procedures. WAPA technicians have only been trained on OMICRON equipment, and other brands would not be compatible with current test procedures. Acquisition of matching OMICRON equipment is deemed essential for WAPA relay technicians to perform their jobs in the most efficient and effective manner.

The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 89503123QWA000256 from the Department of Energy's Western Area Power Administration for an OMICRON CMC 356 Universal Relay Test Set.
