082517.

The pedestrian walkway bridge has experienced repeated deterioration and maintenance issues over its service life. The bridge decking has been replaced twice within approximately the last ten years; however, continued deficiencies have been observed. Portions of the bridge appear to be separating, shifting, or becoming misaligned, potentially due to loose, missing, or otherwise deficient fastening systems. The walking surface has also sustained deterioration associated with regular pedestrian traffic and snow-removal activities, contributing to a shortened service life of the decking system.

The Contractor shall coordinate all subcontractors, suppliers, deliveries, and construction activities necessary to maintain an orderly and safe project site while minimizing disruption to Fort Carson operations and shall comply with all Colorado National Guard, Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and Fort Carson security, access, safety, and construction requirements. Bidders shall reference the drawings, specifications, and supporting documents contained in the Appendices for the detailed physical scope of construction.

The scope of services will include full Construction Contracting Services for the project specified during the process of construction and warranty period to the State as per the Advertisement for Bid. Specific tasks to be performed by the Contractor include those generally performed by the construction community where the Contractor is the prime vendor to the State. Bidders shall reference the drawings, OSA-AFB-1 pg. 3 specifications, and supporting documents in the Appendices for an understanding of the entire scope of the project.

Per C.R.S. §38-26-106, if a contract amounts to $150,000 or more, the awarded contractor shall provide payment and performance bonds not less than 50% of the value of the contract. The costs associated with this bond are to be included in the contractor’s bid.
