About this file

This is a site plan document for the Cape Fear Museum of History and Science located at 814 Market Street in Wilmington, North Carolina, prepared for New Hanover County's Request for Qualifications (RFQ 26-0312) for design services related to the museum's repurposing project. The project involves transitioning the existing public-facing museum facility into a collections and internal operations site, to be completed in two phases. Phase 1 encompasses a space needs assessment, concept plan development, and budget estimation, including evaluation of existing conditions, coordination with end users to determine facility needs, development of a preliminary concept plan, creation of budget estimates for project components, and establishment of estimated timelines. Phase 2 involves complete design services including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, interior design, signage, site work, utilities, construction administration, and permitting assistance, with anticipated delivery through a Construction Manager at Risk (CM@R) method. Statements of Qualifications must be submitted by 5:00 P.M. EST on Tuesday, April 07, 2026, to New Hanover County's Facilities Project Manager David King at 200 Division Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina 28401. Selected firms may be contacted for interviews conducted by phone or in person.

New Hanover County reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Statements of Qualifications and will make the award determination based on which submission is most advantageous to the County. Submitted qualifications are not subject to public inspection until a contract is awarded and executed. Complete requirements, submission instructions, and additional project information are available on the County's website at www.nhcgov.com/bids.aspx. The site plan document itself provides detailed architectural layouts and specifications for the 814 Market Street facility, serving as a reference document for proposing firms to understand the existing building conditions and scope of the repurposing effort.
