About this file

This document is a project manual for the City of Gunnison's 2025 Crack, Slurry, and Cape Seal Project, located in Gunnison, Colorado. The project involves street surface improvements across multiple roadways, including crack sealing, slurry sealing, and cape sealing on specific streets such as Wisconsin Street, 9th Street, Boulevard Street, Pine Street, VanTuyl Circle, Denver Avenue, and 8th Street. The work will include applying crack seal, slurry seal, cape seal, asphalt patching, and associated tasks necessary to complete the street treatments. The project will be constructed under a single prime construction contract, with work to be performed in city right-of-way areas.

The project manual details comprehensive specifications for materials, methods, and quality control, with specific requirements for aggregate, asphalt paving mixtures, and surface treatments. Bidders will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals needed to complete the project. The contract includes specific measurement and payment guidelines, with seven primary bid items covering mobilization, traffic control, slurry seal, cape seal, crack seal, asphalt sawcut/removal, and structural repairs/patching. The project has specific constraints, including working hours (7 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday), and requires careful coordination with local traffic, businesses, and residents during construction.

1. Engineer is responsible for design of the completed Project as a functioning whole and has responsible charge of the Project except for Work for which design responsibility is expressly delegated by the Contract Documents.

2. Do not retain services of any third-party design professional to prepare modifications of Engineer’s design of the completed Project as a functioning whole without Engineer’s express, written consent via an appropriate Contract modification setting forth appropriate performance and design criteria for delegating the design of the substitute.
